This week is huge. Beyond huge. FOOTBALL IS BACK. I’ve had one fantasy football draft, another to come this week. Of course, my team is the best and has at least 3 Green Bay Packers on it. BUT most importantly, Michigan kicks off their season (pun!) this Thursday on the national stage. Naturally, they’ll make it interesting by starting a quarterback who closes his eyes when he throws or forget to start a running back. Either way, I’m beyond excited and this Michigan hype video sums up my feelings perfectly.
ALSO, a national holiday is upon us – Labor Day. I did everyone a 5-second-favor and Googled exactly what Labor Day is – a day “dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers.” A Huge Hurrah and Thank You! to everyone’s parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and beyond who began and worked for our American companies and made our country what it is today.
It’s a fantastic excuse for me to wear my red, white, and blue sundress. AND a fantastic excuse for you to cook these party-worthy recipes. Check out my suggestions below for your Labor Day cuisine!

My all-time favorite dessert, Bisquick Strawberry Shortcake. Some say using Bisquick is cheating, but it’s the best shortcake around. Be sure to add some vanilla extract (1 tsp.) and sugar (1 tbsp.) to the whipping cream.
